Friends, we're continuing our study of Paul's warning against man-made doctrines based on counterfeit authority, in Colossians chapter two. We've seen that the great counterfeit authority that dominates church history up to the present time is the counterfeit authority of the Roman Catholic church. The Roman Catholic church judges every word of God by the word of men.
Is this God's prescribed order, or is it a perverted order? Is the church supposed to interpret the Bible according to its traditions or some other standard, or is the Bible itself is the final authority? What does Scripture itself say about this?
The Bible tells us that the church, rather than standing in judgment over the Word of God, must be judged by the Word of God. Why is that the case? Stay tuned for the answers to those questions as we continue our series, Truth Above All, in Colossians chapter two.

We are continuing our study of counterfeit authority as the root of man-made doctrines, as we find this in Colossians chapter two. In the long history of the church, one great counterfeit authority dominates the scene - that of the Roman Catholic church. No entity has accumulated and exercised more counterfeit authority for a longer span of time than the church of Rome. No visible church has propagated a greater body of man-made doctrines than the church of Rome. On what does Rome base its authority? What does Scripture say in response? Was Peter the "rock" on which Christ built His church? Stay tuned for the answers to those questions as we continue our series, "Truth Above All", in Colossians chapter two.
The Bible tells us that counterfeit authority is the foundation of man-made doctrines. What kinds of counterfeit authorities were at work in Colosse at the time the Apostle Paul wrote to the church there, warning believers to remain free from the tyranny of man-made doctrines? Stay tuned for the answer, as we continue our series titled "Truth Above All" from Colossians chapter two beginning at verse eighteen.
In just nine words in our English Bibles, the prayer of the dying thief gives us the vast height, breadth, and depth of the Gospel message.
Camping's apology for his false prophecies does not constitute true repentance for decades of heresy.
In Colossians chapter two, Paul warns us against the tyranny of man-made doctrines by putting a human face on the problem. Man-made doctrines come when human beings twist Scripture. But the Bible tells us that behind the human face of man-made doctrines is the unseen face of Satan and his spiritual forces. All man-made doctrines are Satanic counterfeits. We're going to focus on this vital point as we continue our study today at Colossians chapter two, verse eighteen.
Today the Evangelical church is experiencing an epidemic of man-made doctrines. Satellite TV and the Internet can spread a new false doctrine literally at the speed of light. Christians must be prepared to recognize and reject man-made doctrines when they come, and to reject those who persist in teaching them.
Nothing could be more helpful to us than the passage we're studying right now in Colossians chapter two. We hope you'll stay tuned.

The pure Word of God is the Christian's strong defense against the tyranny of man-made doctrines. Yet today, much of the Evangelical church actually says that we no longer have the pure text of Scripture available to us.
What does God's Word say? Are postmodern Evangelicals right, or are they very wrong? Stay with us for the answer, as we continue our series titled "Truth Above All" from Colossians chapter two.
