What does the Bible mean when it speaks of dispensations?
What does Paul mean when he says, I "fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ" (Colossians 1:24)? Must we add to Christ's work on the cross?
Today, as Hebrews 13:9 puts it, there are "many various and strange doctrines" about the coming of Jesus Christ. Liberal theologians call Jesus "the perfect liberal" while one evangelical leader has called Him "the perfect conservative." Why are these, and so many other misrepresentations of Christ's first-advent mission, fatally flawed? Stay tuned for the answer, from the words of Christ Himself, in a special Christmas message.
"Doctrine, teaching, instruction. That is the preacher's job. That is his life's work."
What is one of the best safeguards against doctrinal deviancy in the church? Colossians 2:7 tells us that it involves something we don't often think of in this connection: thanksgiving for Christ and His Word.
Ungratefulness for God's riches in Christ is the common failing of those who lead the church into apostasy, and those who follow them.
How can we guard against this danger? That's our focus today as we continue our study of what it means to grow on a firm foundation in Christ.

We have now come to a section of the book of Colossians where the Apostle Paul deals with the third of Satan's triple threats to the Christian and the church - the evil of man-made doctrines. How do man-made doctrines enter the church? How does Satan get his foot in the door? One of the principal ways he does this is by making Christians comfortable with the idea that it is alright to tamper with the Word of God. How has Satan done that in our time? That's the focus of today's message.
What is the true power of the Christian life, and the true power of the Christian church? Where does that power originate?
It is a great blessing, and source of encouragement, to study the names of God in the Bible. By His names, we understand who God is, how He operates, how He governs, how He deals with individuals and nations, how He deals with believers and unbelievers. Today we focus on the name by which God first identified Himself to Abraham four thousand years ago, and we find that it has great significance for believers today: El Shaddai - God Almighty.
In Colossians chapter two gives us a timeless warning about the evil tyranny of man-made doctrines in the church. How does that warning apply to Christians today? What dangers must we guard against in our time? Well, as we survey the landscape we find that two movements in today's Evangelical church are at the top of the list. We examined one of them, the Purpose-Driven Church movement, on our last program.
Today we are going to examine the Emergent Church movement. And once again, we see the danger signs as we compare the roots and the fruits of this movement with the problem indicators that Paul gives us in Colossians two.
Also during today's program I'm going to share with you one godly pastor's personal confrontation with the leaders of a denomination that is buying into the Emergent philosophy.

We live in a time when there is an unprecedented epidemic of counterfeit, un-Biblical worship in the Evangelical church. What is the source of that epidemic? What is God's cure for it? Stay tuned for the answers from the Word of God, as we continue our study of Colossians chapter two.
