What does the Bible mean when it tells us that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Jesus Christ? How is this possible? How did it come about?

Why is this fact about the Lord Jesus Christ so important in the Apostle Paul's instructions to us about the need to stand firm against Satan's triple threat to the church?

The answers to those questions will be our focus today as we continue our series of studies in Colossians chapter two, titled "Truth Above All".
Today, Satan's triple threat to the church can be as near as a Christian television channel, or your church tract rack. That's why God's Word says we must be constantly on our guard against spiritual danger, even from unexpected sources. This broadcast continues our study of Colossians chapter two, at verse eight.
Here is God's message to hearers and learners in the church: When you become a Christian you haven't arrived, you've just begun! You need to put up, and keep up, a solid battle front against Satan's threats to your spiritual life, for the rest of your time on this earth. There is great safety, and great reward, in being rooted and built up in Christ, and established in the faith.
The Apostle Paul tells us that the faithful preaching of sound doctrine is an essential part of the church's defense against Satan's attacks. But this brings us face to face with a problem: Today there is a famine of that kind of preaching and teaching in the Evangelical church. What needs to change? That's our focus today as we continue our series of messages titled "Truth Above All" from Colossians chapter two.
What do we see, when the keynote of thanksgiving for Christ and for the truth is present in the life, thinking, and message of the church? How does this help safeguard Christ's church against Satan's triple threats of worldly philosophy, legalism, and man-made doctrines? That's our focus today as we continue our series, "Truth Above All", in Colossians chapter two, verse seven.
What is one of the best safeguards against doctrinal deviancy in the church? Colossians 2:7 tells us that it involves something we don't often think of in this connection: thanksgiving for Christ and His Word.

Ungratefulness for God's riches in Christ is the common failing of those who lead the church into apostasy, and those who follow them.

How can we guard against this danger? That's our focus today as we continue our study of what it means to grow on a firm foundation in Christ.
What does Paul mean when he says, "I...fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ" (Colossians 1:24)?
What is one of the surest ways for the individual believer, and the church as a body, to put up and keep up a strong battle front against Satan's attacks on sound doctrine?

The answer centers on a word we find in Colossians 2:7 - "abounding". Christians are to abound in the true faith in the true Christ of the Bible.

What does it mean to abound in the faith? How does this protect believers against Satan's doctrinal trickery? We'll answer those questions in this broadcast as we continue our series of messages from Colossians chapter two titled "Truth Above All".
The believer who is growing on a firm foundation is constantly taking in the nourishment of sound doctrine. What is sound doctrine? Where do you find it? How can you be sure of it? What is the standard? What is the test? What should you do if your church's teaching does not pass the test?

We're going to focus on those questions as we continue our study in Colossians chapter two, on the subject of how to meet the challenge of Satan's triple threat to the believer and the church.
You can tell the strength of the roots of a tree when strong winds blow. Some trees stand firm, while others come crashing to the ground.

The same is true in the spiritual realm. You can tell the strength of a person's spiritual roots when the winds of false doctrine blow through the church.

What kind of spiritual roots are you putting down, and are you putting them down in the right place? That's our focus today as we continue our series titled "Truth Above All" fromm Colossians chapter two.
