The English word "repent" is derived from the Latin meaning "think again." But the word in the Greek of the New Testament is a much bigger word.
What does the Bible mean when it speaks of conversion? Is there such a thing as temporary conversion? Is there such a thing as counterfeit conversion? What are the variable elements in conversion? What, according to Scripture, are the two essential elements?
Has man changed, have social conditions changed, or have methods of presenting the Gospel changed, so that the Biblical doctrine of separation is no longer relevant, or the church needs to modify it?
