British Baptist minister Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) was arguably his century's greatest preacher. For many years he pastored the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, preaching to standing-room-only congregations of 6,000 and more each week. It is estimated that he preached personally to over 10 million people during his lifetime.
Spurgeon's devotional book Morning and Evening was widely read during his lifetime, has been translated into dozens of languages, and remains one of the most popular devotional books ever produced.
